“Uncertainties” is a mix borrow from Dr. Heidegger‘s “Experiment” (where he develops on the notion of “Ambiguity” and “Uncertainty”) and Heisenberg‘s break through theory of Quantum mechanics(1) describe in “The Uncertainty Principle”.
(1) “The uncertainty principle is certainly one of the most famous and important aspects of quantum mechanics. It has often been regarded as the most distinctive feature in which quantum mechanics differs from classical theories of the physical world. Roughly speaking, the uncertainty principle (for position and momentum) states that one cannot assign exact simultaneous values to the position and momentum of a physical system. Rather, these quantities can only be determined with some characteristic ‘uncertainties’ that cannot become arbitrarily small simultaneously.” (Link)
Articulated for the first time in Fall 2007 – (n)Certainties - seemed at the time the perfect encapsulated notation for an hybrid interest situated between uncertainty / indetermination / open ended as design narratives - and on an other end the precision of computational protocols of production (from process of production to morphologies) - and therefore explicit through the permutation of the prefix “un” by the very cliche of computation notation: the letter “n”.
